Scholarships
Academic scholarships in amounts ranging from $18,000 to $31,000 per year are available to international students. To qualify, a student must complete all admission procedures no later than January 15 and be admitted to Austin College. No additional scholarship application is necessary.
Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement only; financial need is not considered. Scholarship decisions are based on all aspects of a student’s admission application file, including academic transcripts, SAT/ACT/TOEFL scores, and letters of recommendation. Scholarships are renewable each year for a total of four years of undergraduate study at Austin College. Renewal requires that the student maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average each year.
An international student is notified of a scholarship decision at the same time that he or she is admitted to Austin College. Scholarship recipients are sent a scholarship agreement letter that is included with the letter of acceptance for admission. The scholarship agreement must be signed and returned along with the Matriculation Agreement and $350.00 matriculation deposit.
Financial Assistance
The only additional financial assistance currently available to international students is through a private loan option. If you wish to borrow money through this type of program, you must have a co-borrower who is a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States. A qualified student can borrow any amount up to the yearly cost of his/her education at Austin College. For more information and to view a list of lenders please visit the Financial Aid Loans page and scroll to the bottom to view a list of private alternative lenders.
A limited number of on-campus work programs are available to international students but cannot be guaranteed prior to arrival to the campus. International students must be able to document their ability to pay the cost of attending Austin College (less any scholarship and loan) without the benefit of an on-campus work program.
Assuming that you receive the maximum amount of scholarship from Austin College and are not eligible for a Signature Loan, you can expect to contribute a minimum of $25,000 per year (not including travel costs) toward the cost of attendance. The amount of a student’s expected yearly contribution may very well be higher.
