General Academic Scholarships
Transfer students admitted to Austin College can qualify for general academic scholarships. The chart below is intended to provide students with the typical general academic scholarship levels associated with specific GPA ranges. No additional scholarship application is required for consideration for a general academic scholarship.
GPA | Scholarship Award |
3.5 and up | Academic Excellence $23,000 per year |
3.0-3.49 | Academic Honors $21,000 per year |
- Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for an Austin College grant valued at $15,000 per year.
- These scholarship amounts are based on a cumulative GPA for a minimum of 24 credit hours. If a transfer applicant has less than 24 credit hours, the scholarship will be determined using a combination of high school GPA and college GPA.
Austin College Transfer Honors Scholarship for Two-year College Applicants
Austin College is pleased to announce a Transfer Honors Scholarship program for qualified students from two-year colleges. The Transfer Honors Scholarship is valued at $5,000 per year ($2,500 per fall and spring term for the number of terms needed to complete a bachelor’s degree). Qualified students include active members of any of the 1,275 chapters of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and participants in the honors programs at Grayson College, Collin College, and North Central Texas College. Austin College considers only traditional transfer applicants for these awards. Students who apply as first-time freshmen students are considered under freshmen merit-based scholarship policies. Distinctions and honors earned through dual credit or dual enrollment programs cannot be considered under the transfer merit scholarship policies.
A Phi Theta Kappa member applying for the Transfer Honors Scholarship must submit to the Admission Office a letter from the chapter sponsor verifying the applicant’s current active membership in the local Phi Theta Kappa chapter. A participant in the Grayson College, Collin College, and North Central Texas College honors programs must submit a Statement of Good Standing form that is completed and signed by the Coordinator of the applicant’s honors program. No additional scholarship application is required.
The $5,000 Transfer Honors Scholarship can be awarded in addition to a general academic scholarship for which the student may have qualified. New students can receive no more than two scholarships awarded by Austin College. Recipients of both the Transfer Honors Scholarship and a general academic scholarship are notified at the same time that they are notified of their admission to Austin College.
