Student members of Austin College’s Residence Life staff were recognized for outstanding performance April 24. A number of awards were presented by the professional Residence Life staff of Student Engagement, Enrichment, and Development (SEED).
The following student resident assistants were recognized:
Programmer of the Year: Emma Chalott Barron, Caruth Hall
The Programmer of the Year Award was presented for excellence in creative and effective programming throughout the academic year.
Community Builder of the Year: Elliot Nirider, Baker Hall
The Community Builder of the Year Award recognizes outstanding commitment to building relationships and development of close community bonds.
Student Developer of the Year: Kierra Gaither, Clyce Hall
“Kierra worked closely with her residents, addressing a multitude of concerns including academics, homesickness, adjustment to college life, and overall wellbeing,” staff said.
Team Builder of the Year: Lee Williamson, Dean Hall
The Team Builder Award recognizes a student who is essential to staff cohesion, exhibits pride in the hall staff team, and is seen as a role model and resource for fellow staff members.
Residence Life Staff Member of the Year: Magan Green, Caruth Hall
The Residence Life Staff Member of the Year Award recognizes a staff member who personifies the values of the residence life program, developing strong community in the hall and across the department.
Dr. Christina Herrera is director of residence life. Area coordinators are Sunita Nayani (Brockett complexes), Ethan Patrick (Dean Hall/Village on Grand), Alyssa Veteto (Caruth/Clyce), and Angeleena Young (Baker/Jordan Language House). Michael Deen is Dean of students.
