The Austin College community was saddened to learn this week of the death of Scottie McIntyre Johnson, wife of Jim Johnson, professor emeritus of classics who retired from the College in 2013. The couple moved to San Marcos, Texas, upon his retirement.
A celebration of the life of Rev. Scottie McIntyre Johnson will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The Fellowship holds services at the UCM Wesley Building (formally St. Mark’s Church and Christ Chapel) located at 510 N. Guadalupe St. on the south side of the Texas State University campus. A reception will follow.

Marion (Scottie) Rose McIntyre Johnson, 70, of San Marcos, passed away at 12:35 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at St. David’s Medical Center Hospital in Austin, after a brief illness.
She is survived by husband, James (Jim) Franklin Johnson of San Marcos; two sons, Seth M. Johnson and wife Jessica Schmidt of Boston, Massachusetts, and Joel M. Johnson and wife Laura Johnson of San Marcos; and two granddaughters, Alice Rosalie Johnson and Robyn Joanna Johnson of San Marcos. Also surviving are brother, Michael McIntyre and wife Barbara McIntyre of Brenham, sister-in-law, Pat McIntyre of Brenham, Aunt Vicki Rust of Fredericksburg, Texas, and five nephews, two cousins, and their families. Marion was pre-deceased by her parents, father-in-law James A. Johnson and mother-in-law, Melba Johnson, Uncle Ray McIntyre and Aunt Patricia McIntyre, Uncle Clarence Rust, brother, Harvey (Dee) McIntyre III and cousin, Tom McIntyre.
