FAITH AND ENGAGEMENT
The Service Station
Since Austin College’s founding in 1849, it has maintained its Presbyterian heritage. Reverend David Baker, educated at Hampden-Sydney College and Princeton University, led efforts for over a decade to create a college on the western frontier, establishing a Presbyterian presence.
The Austin College Legacy
In 1889, Austin College received its first bequest—from the estate of Daniel Baker, founder of the College. Today, estate gifts continue to be a source of sustenance and growth for the institution.
