Interview Process —
- Any college employee who wishes to apply for the advertised position is encouraged to do so by completing an “Employee Position Bid Application” in the Human Resources Office.
Transfers — College employees are encouraged to apply for position openings in other departments within the college which may result in a promotion, or, in some instances, a lateral transfer. Supervisors are expected to support employees’ desires for self-improvement and career advancement. A promotion or lateral transfer is finalized through the Human Resources Office after appropriate supervisors, program directors and executives have approved the transfer and the Human Resources Office has verified the transfer and salary of the employee in the new position. No promotion involving a transfer to a different department should occur during the new employee introductory period and, ideally, not within the first year of college employment. No lateral transfer between positions in different departments may occur in any case during the first year of college employment. After college employees have completed their first year of employment, there is no restriction on applying for position openings in other departments within the college
Procedures
Hiring Supervisor: First, if you plan a second interview or consider the applicant a finalist, notify the applicant of your intentions. Second, once the applicant has notified his/her supervisor, contact the hiring supervisor and executive to inform each that the applicant being considered for the position. Third, ask the hiring supervisor and executive for a reference. Finally, it is recommended to contact Human Resources to review the applicant’s performance evaluations and original application before making a final hiring decision.
Applicant: First, complete the Employee Position Bid Application which serves as an update to your original application. Second, it is up to the hiring supervisor to consider and or invite you for an interview. Third, if you are invited for a second interview or informed that you are finalist, you certify that you will inform your immediate supervisor. Fourth, you understand the hiring supervisor will contact your supervisor and executive, after they have been made aware of your status, to inform each that you being considered for the position. Fifth, you understand in addition to your supervisor’s or executive’s reference, your annual performance evaluation(s) and original application may be used to make the final hiring decision. Finally, you understand there may be other applicants applying for this position and that you are not guaranteed to receive an offer for the position.
