Applying for Study Abroad |

Fill out online application (request unofficial transcript be sent to Study Abroad; Study Abroad will check student conduct record.)
Forms: Online application; apply for new passport (if necessary) |

Prior to submission of application | Meet with mentor and department chair/program head in order to discuss study abroad plans and courses that you plan on taking while abroad. Your Mentor will need to review General Degree Requirement for Undergraduate Students and the courses that you would like to take while abroad and document this on the Overall Austin College Degree Plan Checklist sign and date. You will need to do this with the Department Chair of your Major and Minor also. Or, visit the Degree Requirements page. Simply click on your major or minor to retrieve the correct form. All forms must be completed and signed before you may meet with DSA

Meet with Study Abroad Advisor (SAA) in the Study Abroad Office in WCC 204. Sign your Agreement with the Study Abroad Office agreeing to a minimum of THREE meetings and pre-departure sessions | ||

Meeting 1: with SAA; Apply for internal/external scholarships; Final choice of study abroad site; Begin provider application process; Official transcript to provider; Passport photo taken ($10 fee); Passport status check | ||

Meeting 2: with SAA; Budget construction; Student meets with Financial Aid Office; Add to Facebook group; Scan passport; Essays (application and scholarships); provider application completed; Scholarship status

During the normal campus registration period for the following term, gain permissions and enroll in STABD 600 for the term abroad. This will ensure continual course enrollment at AC and ensure financial aid processing, if applicable | ||

After Arrival at your Study Abroad Destination |

Beginning of Fall or Spring | Student notifies SAA of arrival at destination | ||
Beginning of Fall or Spring | Student sends email to SAA once registered for classes. Student sends a syllabus for each class for approval by mentor/major head/minor head. SAO will forward course titles and syllabi to appropriate division head for pre-approval. , MUST follow up with syllabi ASAP; Follow up with SAO re approval within 3 business days for course approval in case add/drop needed on site | ||
Following Spring or Fall | Required re-entry interview and attend Welcome Back Bash and Bon Voyage events |
